Dead Silence

iScriblr_poem

The night is lonely, overcast and gray,
With a pin-drop silence, that no turbulence can slay.
Estranged is my sleep, my consciousness in turmoil,
My heart's erratically racing, the dismay boils.

Did I hear someone call my name?
Or did someone whisper, "let's play a game?"
I hope it's not the psychotic serial killer that morning newspapers referred to,
The one who wanders with a chainsaw, murdering women and boiling their guts to stew!

I'm not certainly dreaming, the weirdness that I feel is real,
The eerie air, the unearthly space - all seems so supernatural.
Is there a dark shadow lurking behind the drapes?
Or is it a ghoul who's bloodied atrocities I wont escape?

"Tick, tock, tick" goes the monstrous antique clock, incessantly,
There is a strange chill in the air, it all feels so deathly.
I hear a distant motor buzzing, getting closer with every gasp,
My fear was factual.. Sigh, this night is indubitably my last!
