Healthy Food Series – Debunking Weight Loss Myths!
Happy Tuesday y’all! It’s time for the weekly Healthy Food Series!
Well guess what! We’ve successfully completed 4+ months of Healthy Food Series and I am super stoked about the success rate! From talking about “super foods” to actually evaluating the “real food benefits” – This ride has been fun!
Well, carrying on with the ritual of mindful eating habits and living a healthy life, here comes my latest post to a “healthful lifestyle” that not only keeps you appraised with the newest food trends but also helps you lose those extra pounds and (this time) break some myths!
1 OBESITY IS ABOUT WILL POWER, NOT BIOLOGY (HELL NAH!)
It is completely fabricated that weight gain/loss is all about willpower, or making a “choice” to do this or that. In reality – Obesity is a very complex disorder with dozens, if not hundreds of contributing factors. There are numerous genetic variables that have been shown to associate with obesity, and various medical conditions (hypothyroidism, PCOS, depression) that can increase the risk of weight gain. In addition, the body also has numerous hormones and biological pathways that are supposed to regulate body weight. These tend to be dysfunctional in people with obesity, making it much harder to lose weight and keep it off.
For example, being resistant to the hormone “leptin” is a major known cause of obesity. The leptin signal is supposed to tell your brain that it has enough fat stored. When the leptin isn’t managing to deliver its signal, the brain thinks that you are starving. Hence, provoking you to eat! Trying to exert “willpower” and consciously eating less in the face of the leptin-driven starvation signal is extremely challenging, if not impossible for many people.
Understand that, eating is driven by behavior, and behavior is driven by physiology and biochemistry and everything is not as plain as it looks.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that you should just give up and accept your genetic fate! Losing weight is still possible, it is just much, much harder for some people.

Ghosts In The Machine – Three Line Tales
A ghost of a woman jumping out of the background of the television shows, an outstretched hand reaching out from the black murk beyond the screen of an unplugged television, double images, fog, sound distortion, white noise and strange static patterns, Mary had encountered it all. As described by the paranormal researchers who'd rushed to the scene, this was a typical case of "Instrumental Trans-Communication" where the ghosts and spirits were trying to communicate with the living through a TV-like medium; flying through the airwaves, vaulting into our lives. Are our TVs really a sort of potential portal between these realms, or did Mary go a little overboard with her bingeing of "Stranger Things" on Netflix?
My Favorite 3 Books From Childhood
Hey Everyone!
Yay, yet another exciting tag! *happy dance*
Thank you so much Jenna from The Sunshine Artist for tagging me for the super fun Fun Friday Flashback Tag! I truly appreciate it and I appreciate you! Guys, go check out her amazing blog and give her a follow. With bounteous optimistic and heartfelt musings on her blog, she is undeniably awesome!
ABOUT THE TAG
Every Friday Jenna will post a questionnaire, photos, quotes and/or a poem on a specific “topic” taking us back in time. Today’s travel through time will take you back to the MEMORABLE BOOKS FROM CHILDHOOD that have always held a special place in your heart.
Let’s turn back in time and get the fun started –
To be honest, I have been an avid reader all my life! Crazily enough, my fascination with reading started when I was just 6 – with my Papa buying me all sorts of “gorgeous-looking” books and encyclopedias. (Can’t blame him, he wanted me to be the WISE one! Ha!) Well, my favorite out of the lot was Hamlyn’s Giant All-Color Book of Fairy Tales – vibrant and prismatic, it was indeed my “prized possession” for a pretty long time, until I grew up – to read (and realize) the likes of Jim Corbett, PG Wodehouse and Enid Blyton. Ah, nostalgia!
