HOW I STARTED MY BLOG

Some random thoughts, a husband to technically assist me in setting up my website, lose time and years of yearning to write = iScriblr was born!
To be honest, writing always has been very close to my heart. When conversations failed, I wrote! It has been my “happy place” where I can express myself freely without being judged or belittled. Post quitting my job of 10+ years and finally being able to get some time for myself – blogging was the obvious next step towards “my freedom to expression.” Also, what’s knowledge if you haven’t shared it, when you had the chance?

MY ADVISE FOR NEW BLOGGERS

It’s no secret that when you’re starting out blogging, the situations seriously can be a bit overwhelming! Too many trials and tribulations, whats and whys. Post many blunders, here are 4 tips, that I think can help y’all to not do what I did, or do what I didn’t do!

1 BE AUTHENTIC

Be real, be YOU!  Embrace your uniqueness and do not try to be someone who you are not. Brand yourself and your ideas (writing style) and encompass the difference. Recognize your USP (Unique Selling Point) and only “write” about what “connects” to you. Ask yourself “what makes you different” and believe that your singularity is RARE!

2 WRITE FOR YOURSELF FIRST AND LOVE IT

Ignore the fact that anyone else will read what you write! Just focus on your thoughts, ideas, opinions and figure out how to put those into words. Once you start writing for yourself, you’ll realize that you are writing more and publishing more often! Remember, when you are not publishing something based on the traction/reception that the post will receive and rather “write” about what “connects” to you – your content will be attractive and brilliant, attracting “real” followers who would love you for what you write!
Writing isn’t about picking the right topic, it’s about finding the right voice!

DON’T OVERWHELM YOURSELF OR OVER COMMIT

If your schedule is preposterous, then don’t stress trying to get a post up every single day. Remember it should always be “Quality over Quantity” and not the other way round. Relax and move at your own pace.

4 BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH FELLOW BLOGGERS

Engage with other bloggers and appreciate them for stopping by your blog. Being part of the blogging community is a mammoth blessing and you cannot even fathom the kind of wonderful, multi-talented people that you’ll meet here. Embark on this opportunity and build relationships with your fellow bloggers. Trust me, it goes a long way when you take the time to “like, comment and interact” in the blogosphere!

I need to do a wrap up post like this soon, too. Great advice, particularly I think about not overwhelming yourself because then blogging becomes too stressful rather than enjoyable.
