MY QUOTE FOR DAY 1

“Beware for I am fearless, and therefore powerful.”

– Frankenstein

ABOUT THE BOOK

Frankenstein (or The Modern Prometheus) is a novel written by English author Mary Shelley (1797–1851) that tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist who creates a grotesque but sapient creature in an unorthodox scientific experiment. Shelley started writing the story when she was 18, and the first edition of the novel was published anonymously in London on 1 January 1818, when she was 20. Her name first appeared on the second edition, published in France in 1823.
A ghost-writing contest on a stormy June night in 1816 inspired Frankenstein, often called the first true work of science-fiction! Superficially a Gothic novel, and influenced by the experiments of Luigi Galvani, it was concerned with the destructive nature of power when allied to wealth. Seemingly, it was an instant wonder, and spawned a mythology that endures to this day.

MY TAKE ON THE QUOTE

For the one’s who have read this book (or may be watched the movie) – I guess, they would acknowledge that – “Mary Shelley’s creature is not innately evil, but becomes malign after being rejected by his creator and by society.” (It shouldn’t be surprising that I belong to Team Frankenstein! Ha!)
Comprehensibly, when you don’t have anything to lose and your life becomes gutsy, when you have lost more than you can build, when life is a “lonely story” – you metamorphose into someone who’s braver, stronger and invincible! Tough life, burdensome past, formidable situations, all are classical ingredients to make a “brave-heart!” Evil or not, malevolent or amiable, or just plain wicked – sometimes, it is more than what meets the eye! Yes, you are what your situations make out of you and obviously with a lack of apprehension comes more power.
