Turn The Page – Haiku

Divorcing her pain,

She painted a better life.

Indeed a smart move!

This post is written in response to Haiku Horizons, Week #246 – where you write a “HAIKU” using the prompt word. Follow this link to learn more about it, see other submissions, and to share your own. Come and join in the fun folks!

This weeks prompt is “SMART!”

This short poem is my way of acknowledging the “SURVIVORS” of “DOMESTIC ABUSE” – who refuse to back down and give up in the face of adversities of life and relationships. It is not easy to get up and fight back, especially when the world around you seems to be ceasing, but still, the SURVIVORS do, and with such poise and grace!

Here’s to each one of us who’s taken a stand and fought for what is ours!

“The only thing more unthinkable than leaving was staying; the only thing more impossible than staying was leaving. I didn’t want to destroy anything or anybody. I just wanted to slip quietly out the back door, without causing any fuss or consequences, and then not stop running until I reached Greenland.”

  3. “Divorcing her pain” that’s an exceptional choice to make,
When you get kicked down, just dust yourself up an get back up, sometimes it’s easier said than done but hail to all who have been in such situations and have managed to break free from it.

“No one can tell what goes on in between the person you were and the person you become. No one can chart that blue and lonely section of hell. There are no maps of the change. You just come out the other side.

      Or you don’t.”

“You don’t manage an oppressor or dictator.
You don’t love people out of being controlling or abusive.
You come up with a plan to secure whatever is most important to you before they kill you.”
      ― Tonya GJ Prince

      1. That quote says it all, I’ve had friends and family members involved in these situations and it’s definitely scary, but the one who’s in the situation knows when it’s safest to leave and get out. It’s not as many on the outside judging think it is. 😔
