Things To Do In Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge

Hey Everyone! It’s time for some travelling updates and stories of my voyaging! Hope you all are as excited about it, as me?

Well, finally the “dry travelling spell” broke! Thanks to the weather Gods, we (Me and my Huz) were able to spread our wings and go for the much-anticipated extended weekend trip to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Yay!

One of the most popular tourist destinations, much-publicized for the “colors of the fall”, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge boasts of – fascinating scenic beauty, locally owned restaurants serving scrumptious food, Dollywood theme park and the Stampede theater (both owned by country music superstar Dolly Parton), Ober Gatlinburg (which is the only ski resort in Tennessee!), Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, Gatlinburg Sky Lift, Ripley’s Haunted Adventure, Hollywood Star Cars Museum and Anakeesta (one of the best amusement parks in Gatlinburg) to name a few, not forgetting the breathtaking trails and trekking opportunities!
Indeed a traveler’s paradise, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge sure do have so much history, fun, treks n’ trails and food to offer and LOVE!

Well, it took us 6 h 50 min to reach our destination (Pigeon Forge) from Memphis, Tennessee (Distance covered – 425.5 mi/684.7 km) via I-40 and I-40 E. With some exaggerated bends and picture-perfect scenic views – the drive gets better by the hour.

My 4th Sunshine Blogger Award

iScriblr_sunshine-blogger-award

Gosh! Am I guilty or am I guilty? I am a month late in posting this! (Silly me! Busy life!)

Here comes my FOURTH! Yay! I’m really excited to have been nominated by Mercury Twin for this award and am super stoked because that means I get the chance to SHOUT about how much I love the blog – Mercury Twin – and also, why you all need to check it out! An excellent, multicolored, chromatic and abounding with photographs, Mercury Twin is the blog to see!

Well, this Sunshine Blogger Award comes with a twist! No questions! No answers! Just “sunny” pictures! What better representation of “Sunshine” can we think of, right?

So, here is my take on it! I have chosen two of the many “sunlit” captures on my phone (which FYI, wasn’t an easy task to do!) Bright, luminous, pleasant – these pictures, for me are perfect elucidation of sunlight and it’s semblance. Full of grace, oozing with elegance, presenting to you all – the SUN and its allure.

Flash Flood Warning

Hey Everyone! Happy Thursday y’all! (Just another day till the weekend! Yay!)

Well, while I was eagerly waiting for the winters to end (yes, I have had enough!), seems like the weather Gods had something else in mind! With a record-breaking rain since February 1949, Memphis (and the Mid-South) had what we call is the “Flash Flood Warning!” With almost 13.43” (which is around 9″ above normal) of rain so far over the span of last few weeks – life for sure, has been gloomy, damp and slushy. Thankfully, Memphis is point 5” away from the flood flight activation trigger, so we are safe for now. (Phew!)

“You should never try to out guess Mother Nature because when you do, you come off second best.”
― Anthony T.Hincks

Making most of the little sunshine that we experienced today, I managed to click a few pictures for you all to see. The massiveness and immensity of Mississippi River, brimming in its full glory – is a sight to behold and adore. With submerged trees, swamped walking trails, sunken conduits, drowned saplings, floating planks and invisible tracks – it’s a picture which is both intimidating and impressive at the same time.
