ABOUT THE TAG

Every Friday Jenna will post a questionnaire, photos, quotes and/or a poem on a specific “topic” taking us back in time. Today’s travel through time will take you back to the MEMORABLE BOOKS FROM CHILDHOOD that have always held a special place in your heart.

Let’s turn back in time and get the fun started –iScriblr_reading

To be honest, I have been an avid reader all my life! Crazily enough, my fascination with reading started when I was just 6 – with my Papa buying me all sorts of “gorgeous-looking” books and encyclopedias. (Can’t blame him, he wanted me to be the WISE one! Ha!) Well, my favorite out of the lot was Hamlyn’s Giant All-Color Book of Fairy Tales – vibrant and prismatic, it was indeed my “prized possession” for a pretty long time, until I grew up – to read (and realize) the likes of Jim Corbett, PG Wodehouse and Enid Blyton. Ah, nostalgia!

1 MAN-EATERS OF KUMAON BY JIM CORBETT

It is a 1944 book written by hunter-naturalist-conservationist Jim Corbett. It details the experiences that Corbett encountered in the “Kumaon” region of India from the 1900s to the 1930s, while hunting “REAL” man-eating Bengal tigers and Indian leopards. *wide-eyed fascination*
One of my absolute favorites, this book had all the necessary ingredients (suspense, excitement and adventure) to keep a “new-bloomer” like me captivated and spell-bound!iScriblr_book

2 THE ADVENTURES OF SALLY BY P.G. WODEHOUSE

One of the most widely read humorists of the 20th century, Wodehouse was yet another of my absolute favorite writers. Out of his many books, this was the first time that I’d read a novel that had a female main-protagonist. *woman POWER*
A delightful love story, complete with love letters, tears and hope – this book was all that the”little girl” in me idolized! *wink-wink*iScriblr_book

3 THE CHILDREN AT GREEN MEADOWS BY ENID BLYTON

All my life I have been a devoted Enid Blyton fan, reading almost all of her books! (PS – I had my first library card when I was 8 years old!)
Being the crazy “animal-lover” that I am, this book was (is) super close to my heart – In fact, this is the book that really got me into me reading! Love, family, emotions and adventure – it is a full-blown sentimental ride, Blyton style!iScriblr_book

There you go folks – a sneak peek of my “childish” love for books! Thank God for them, I’ve always had a “perfect companion” by my side.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
