Ugly Dolls – Three Line Tales

"One ticket please" muttered Betty nervously,
pointing out at the train schedule with her trembling little fingers;
her voice as precarious as her irresolute future,
her "despicable-ugly" face hidden behind a frail veil.

"You goin' to Uglyville, eh?" mocked the indifferent conductor;
seemingly cognizant of the new legislation passed by the King
about all the unwanted-redundant "Ugly Dolls" of the town.

Betty nodded a desperate yes,
as she grasped the "one-way ticket" to her deliverance;
a ticket to a hopeful place
where weirdness is celebrated,
strangeness is special and
beauty is embraced as more than what meets the eye!

Ghosts In The Machine – Three Line Tales

iScriblr_tltweek138

A ghost of a woman jumping out of the background of the television shows,
an outstretched hand reaching out from the black murk
beyond the screen of an unplugged television,
double images, fog, sound distortion, white noise
and strange static patterns,
Mary had encountered it all.

As described by the paranormal researchers who'd rushed to the scene,
this was a typical case of "Instrumental Trans-Communication"
where the ghosts and spirits were trying to communicate
with the living through a TV-like medium;
flying through the airwaves, vaulting into our lives.

Are our TVs really a sort of potential portal between these realms,
or did Mary go a little overboard
with her bingeing of "Stranger Things" on Netflix?

The House Of Horrors – Three Line Tales

iScriblr_tltweek137

"It's a steal Jack! Who sells a f*****g 5 bedroom,
3.5 acre lake-view mansion for just $250K?"
said an over enthusiastic Ally,
her obvious excitement over the rooftop,
as she signs the dotted line.

It was a dream property
that they couldn't have afforded in a million years,
had it not been for a sudden drop in its price
after it was unanticipatedly foreclosed by the bank.

Little did Alley know that "The House Of Horrors"
is not just an "Urban Legend"
her girl friends gossiped about!

Million Dollar Baby – Three Line Tales

Looking at the vast horizon and serene surroundings
from the deck of her shambled RV,
Rose reminisces of the day that she'd abandoned
her million-dollar "Beverly Hills" mansion forever.

An heiress to the ritziest diamond empire in the US,
once affluent and a consistent Page 3 denizen,
she'd thankfully realized on time,
that the "luxuries" and the "rich-people-controversies"
would take her back to the horrors of drug-addiction, DUIs
and a "spoilt" life that she wasn't proud of.

Joyously swaying her prego-tummy,
to the beats of "The Happiest Girl In The Whole USA"
by Donna Fargo playing in the background,
she proudly smiles and whispers,
"This is what a Mother does!"

"We've got 24 hours before they burn them all down! Hurry up!"
announced Sue to a group of new recruits of the "Resistance Army",
amidst ramming murmurs and cramming whispers.

Their task - To memorize and protect
the world's greatest literary and cultural works,
before the "firemen" arrive.

 Alas, year 2069 AD marks an annulment of literature by the "mass media",
where the books are outlawed,
and any allurement of libraries is extinct!
