10 Ways To Live, Laugh, And Love Like A Child

Hey Everyone! I hope y’all are having a great day! Well, it’s time for some Real Talk.

Ah, adulthood! Something that we all wish for, but certainly aren’t equipped to handle. (High hopes, eh?) Responsibilities, accountability, anxiety, and doubt – well that’s the latest version of being mature. From childlike foolery to a confined 24/7 cubicle with a 9 to 5 job, student loan debt and daycare expenses, work demands, the pressures of dating/marriage or children – somewhere, somehow, life catapults and we become adults!

I remember being a child and feeling like I couldn’t wait to be an adult because I would get to do what I wanted to, whenever I wanted to do it. (Yay.. Freedom!) Yet, here I am (all grown up) wondering “what the h*** happened?”
Busy, forlorn, lonesome, blue, running around in the mundane “rat race” called life – Well yes, that’s “adulting”! And surprisingly, everyone’s in it! Somewhere between careless frolics to overwhelming, stressful, and chaotic existence – situations changed and we matured!

FACTS

Let’s face it, being an adult kind of s****. Here are some attention-grabbing facts that are too hard to ignore –

1 25% of workers view their jobs as the number one “stressor” in their lives. (Survey by Northwestern National Live)
2 54% of Americans are concerned about the level of stress in their everyday lives. (Surveys conducted by the APA – 2004)
3 75% of adults reported experiencing moderate to high levels of stress. (Surveys conducted by the APA – 2009)
4 Almost 50% of Americans say that they are increasingly stressed about their ability to provide for their family’s basic needs. (Surveys conducted by the APA – 2008)

A fun-filled, happy-go-lucky, light-hearted life with no regrets and compunctions – is this not how we all were as kids? At what point in life did we lose that and why?

GOOD NEWS

Have you ever watched a child?
They never feel embarrassed over falling and getting up again, making mistakes, or showing their feelings. Every day is new for them, bringing along discoveries, wonder, and excitement. Laughing their hearts out, too caught up in the fun to even think about the consequences, with sunshine in their hearts and merriment in their actions – ah, sweet “devil-may-care” childhood!

“It’s never too late to have a happy childhood.”

Remember, almost nothing in life comes without a fight! Challenges are an integral part of growth and accepting to deal with them “head on” is how you can win the “life games!” We never know how long we have, so let’s start living a life free of inhibitions and hangups starting today!
Here is my personal prescription of living a life that is as “carefree” and “happy-go-lucky” as the kid you once were –

There is no magical prescription that can set you free of your worries folks! Well, what’s life without its challenges and encounters? The trick however, is to let yourself see reality through a more positive and enthusiastic approach and rediscover your sunshine! Remember, you don’t need to be childish to be childlike. All you have to do is – find happiness in everyday routine and learn to make light of complications and drawbacks that the life throws at you! S*** happens! So what? (that’s what we signed up for when we grew up?) However, consciously choosing a child-like attitude not only brings fabulously “carefree” times that you can count on but also makes you a “grown-up” in real sense – smarter, wiser, swankier, wittier!

So people, reawaken your natural inner child and live, laugh, love – and refuse to ever grow up! Get your “sparkle” back and “shine on!”

  1. Nothing lightens the load more than laughing; especially at ourselves…
I love this list. We ought to engage in being present and silly more often. I believe my three little dogs give me the chance to be silly as we play catch and ‘who can get the most hugs’… 🙂

  2. This is an excellent post. We’ve been having this exact conversation with my almost 22 year old son. His girlfriend reckons they’ve been dating almost 4 years and now they should get a place and move in together. My son tells me he’s not ready to grow up. He likes playing football and living at home and doesn’t want to go paying bills, cleaning the bathroom and checking the house is locked up every night. He says he’s not ready to be an adult. I don’t blame him, even though I’m very fond of his girlfriend and I understand she’s ready to settle down. It’s so hard taking those first steps into adulthood. I tell my children every day just to enjoy what they do that there’s no hurry for the wishes to be an adult.

  3. I love this! I often wonder how we go so far off track to become bitter, miserable, so stressed by everything, whereas children have such wonder for the world, joy in the simple things… Brill post! xx

  4. This post is priceless, 😊😊
a while back I made my mind up that I was never ever growing up.
I believe we are meant to enjoy and experience life not worry it away, besides this life is way to short to waste.

  5. I’m glad I’m seeing this today, just the day I needed it. Your fun info-graphic always makes me smile and today’s post made me stop and re-evaluate.

It’s an interesting theme Aixa – “Place In The World” – Me too haven’t had the time to post about it yet!🙈

  6. “I remember being a child and feeling like I couldn’t wait to be an adult because I would get to do what I wanted to, whenever I wanted to do it.” This is so damn relatable! The whole post is!
Children cant wait to become adults, and grown-ups pine for their lost childhood. Such an irony.

“you don’t need to be childish to be childlike”. Wonderful and true indeed! Kind of like the best of both worlds;)
    Anyways, good read:)

    1. Thank you so much! Appreciate you stopping by!💕
I agree, ironic is what this life is, but yeah, we can always evolve and change (or de-evolve and go back to basics – as it is in this case!)😉

  7. Childhood is the best phase in one’s life. There were no worries. Even your mistakes were forgiven. Even your mischief are enjoyed by others. There is an innocence in children. They don’t care for others. They just live in their world.
