“It’s sad if people think that’s (homemaking) a dull existence, [but] you can’t just buy an apartment and furnish it and walk away. It’s the flowers you choose, the music you play, the smile you have waiting. I want it to be gay and cheerful, a haven in this troubled world. I don’t want my husband and children to come home and find a rattled woman. Our era is already rattled enough, isn’t it?”
― Audrey Hepburn
Water – is an integral part of our lives, making it impossible to live without! For centuries, medicinally, water has been advocated as the best natural detox available to mankind. Water carries nutrients to our cells, aids digestion by forming stomach secretions, flushes our bodies of wastes, and keeps our kidneys healthy. It also keeps our moisture-rich organs (skin, eyes, mouth and nose) performing well, it lubricates and cushions our joints, and regulates our body temperature and our metabolism.
“Your value doesn’t decrease based on someone’s inability to see your worth.”
People judge! They will always try to define you and put you in a box basis their own assessment and perception of you (doesn’t matter what authenticity the perception holds!) You may be defined basis your race, gender, weight, the way you dress, your social status, your sexuality, your friends (Heck! Even on basis of what you eat!) It is hard to live your best lives, when “best” is defined by someone else! Constant nay-sayers, consistent cynics, ceaseless criticism – they have many names and wear a many masks!
Everyone has a bad habit. Whether it is as simple as sleeping with your makeup on your face or as grave as missing on the ingredient label on your beauty products, we all are guilty! (Well, what’s a human without any vices?) Ignoring some simple steps to your beauty regime might seem harmless now, but eventually they would need more time, effort and money for restoration and repair. Having said that, it’s never too late to say good-bye to a bad routine!
Here’s my list of 5 bad beauty habits to break this year –
“If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.”
― Thomas Jefferson
Each of us have our own “comfort zone” which, more than an actual place is an emotional-psychological safe haven involving our daily habits and routine. Being in our comfort zone implies protection and security, minimizing any risks and stress. It’s a warm, safe cocoon where we are happily existing, distant enough from any mishap or blunder. When we step outside of our comfort zone, we’re taking a risk and opening ourselves up to the possibility of stress and anxiety! (Well, who wants that now?) As humans, we are creatures of comfort and taking risks is a menace that we are not well equipped to handle. It is too much of an effort and labor, something that we usually shy away from!
Biris a tiny village located at the foothills of the Himalayas in the Kangra Valley of Himachal Pradesh (India) – known worldwide as a destination for ecotourism, meditation and spiritual studies and yes, PARAGLIDING! Scenic, panoramic and an adventurer’s piece of heaven, Bir, shall not disappoint you or your daredevil spirit. Depending on which route you take, Bir is around 532.7 km (via NH44) or 615.9 km (via NH9) from New Delhi. You may choose to drive, book a cab, take a bus or even book a flight to the nearest airport in Dharamshala. (Read here for more information) It takes around 11-13 hours to reach Bir and the drive gets better by the hour! (PS – The fun fanatics may travel to Bir by the Kangra Valley Railways – Toy Train – for the added hullabaloo!)
We all feel stress in our lifetime! Dismally, stress is an inevitable part of our lives and there is nothing much that we can do about it, other than to stand up against it and fight back. There could be better days, there could be good days and on other days you are a chaos!
One of the most favorite travel destinations in the south-central Tennessee is the Jack Daniel’s distillery, situated in the small town of Lynchburg. It is a 4 hr 11 min drive (236.2 mi) via I-40 from Memphis, Tennessee. (Excellent week-end get-away!) The drive is refreshing, through the green pastures with an uninterrupted view of the barns, alluring old-fashioned farm-houses, horses and cows, corn fields and occasionally deer! (Depending on which season you chose for travelling.)
Boundless laughter, lovable family time, infinite lights, zestful sweets, diyas and candles, colors and of course excessive gifts – these are the things that make Diwali, a nonpareil Diwali! It’s that time of the year, when we transform ourselves from the “miser souls” that we are to the most “affluent-extravagant mortals!” It’s the time to celebrate each other and for spreading joy, cheer and delight all around. (Undoubtedly, we do it lavishly and with style!)
