Valentine’s for Luvvies Challenge 2019 – 13th Feb

Hey Everyone! Hope y’all are doing wonderful!

Welcome to my seventh installment of The Valentine’s for Luvvies Challenge 2019 – which is being run by Rory at A Guy Called Bloke and Doodlepip’s Adventures. Did the time flew by quickly? Or is it just me! *wink wink*

PS – Yet again, I’m collating all three together for easy readability! *rebel alert*

Let’s get the fun started –

1 It’s the eighteenth century, and your sailor sweetheart has just given you what is called a “busk valentine”. What is it?

A piece of decorated whale-bone. Your “busk valentine” is not only beautiful, incised with images or designs, but can also be put to good use as a stiffener in your corset!

2 It was the 1850s, and Esther Howland was one of the first to mass produce valentines in the United States. For what quality were her valentines known?

Beauty and taste! While other manufacturers competed for the affection of the public, none could compete with the quality, taste, and style of Esther Howland.

3 Perhaps Chaucer thought English Februaries could use some cheering up. At any rate, it is he who generally gets the credit for being first to link love and romance with the feast day of St. Valentine. In which poem did he do this?

The Parliament of Fowls, containing the line – “For this was on Saint Valentine’s Day, when every bird comes there to choose his mate.”

4 Display three of your best romantic quotes on romance, love and life.

Quoting my all-time favorite RUMI! Who else could articulate love and life so beautifully!

5  Of course there is the other side to Valentine’s Day – the Naughty Side! Well here we are, your chance to truly express your inner self, to let the impish you run amok in a saucy tale, raunchy poem or your expression and interpretation may be best served just by linking a song, a film clip, a piece of art – the choice is yours – be inventive, let your imagination stroll down the slinky and the sexy, walk into the enchanted garden. Use the prompt “The Succubus” to conjure and fire up your creativity!

iScriblr_valentinesDay

A little piece of “history” about this composition of mine – Since demons cannot reproduce on their own, the Succubi and Incubi (the s*x demons, preying upon sleeping humans at night) work together to produce an offspring, called a “Cambion” –  who (obviously) possess demonic characteristics, thanks to the “unspeakable” touch of the Succubus and Incubus. Here’s a piece of “raunchy” conversation between the two, raising hell –

You melt me with those “undress me” eyes,
Lifting me to a peak, that I cannot deny.

My shame, you audaciously strip,
Our sweet surrender cascades drip by drip.

The touch of your skin makes me shiver,
Your every fondle, each caress I savor.

Your love is a drug that I gladly abuse,
With our bodies entwined, in you, I diffuse!

(Naughty much?!?)

6 Which Shakespearean character said “Good morrow. ‘Tis St. Valentine’s Day”?

Ophelia

7 In which year did Pope Gelasius declare February 14th to be St. Valentine’s Day?

498 A.D.

8 Born in Italy in 1895, who was known as cinema’s first “great lover”?

Rudolph Valentino

9 Explain why, if you are of the cynical frame of mind that a night-in cuddled up with your favorite pet is ‘way better’ than a night out on a blind date?

Even though I could think of a million reasons, here’s top 5 from the list –

1 Pets are happy with any video you choose to rent, because they know the most important thing is that you’re together.
2 Pets don’t care how you dress. “Pajamas” work just FINE for them!
3 Pets understand what NO means and still love you the same.
4 Pets don’t care what you look like or how much weight you’ve gained. (Unlike the “weighting scale” ex of mine!)
5 Pets are easy to please! No shaving of legs, no fancy “high-end” dinners, no LBDs (little black dresses), no PS4s (the pricey gaming equipment) – they just want you/love you as you are.

Here’s to LOVE and everything else in between!

Love,

  1. Once more Richa marvelously done – some crackers in here indeed – if only l could figure out how to share your posts within WP?? Am l missing a button on your site or something or is there not one and l have not lost the plot?

    1. Hey Rory.. Thank you so much!❤️❤️

Since mine is a self hosted site, I do not get a re-blog button.. Usually people copy-paste my post and share it on their blogs! 😉

        1. That’s the only way I’ve always been, so wouldn’t really know the difference. 😉
But of little that I know (and have researched), self-hosting gives you a bigger platform to “showcase” your work plus you have your own “domain” to manage and are free of any per-se WP issues! 🙂

          1. This is what I could find from Google .. Hope it helps!

Self hosted WordPress based website is lot better than a website hosted on wordpress’s server for some of these obvious reasons :

1 A self hosted website can have its own domain name (web address) such as: ‘dbcommit.com’. Same is not true for a WordPress hosted website which gives you the Web address in the format of: dbcommit.wordpress.com.
2 You cannot make your website as feature rich if it is hosted on Wordress server. Whereas , in case you have a self hosted WordPress site, you can add/remove whichever plugins or templates for your website.
3 You can have full control over the files, images etc. if you have a self hosted site. If you have a wordpress hosted site, you can only add/edit the content you put in – you cannot make any changes to underlying template files.

    1. Thanks sweetie!❤️❤️

With – 3,000 (love songs) to Shams, the prophet Muhammad and God and 2,000 rubayats (four-line quatrains) by Rumi – there’s a lot to read and explore! 😉

  2. Another great post Richa, learnt something new today – busk valentine ! Didn’t know V-day is around from 498 AD .Rumi quotes are always great .Have a great Valentines day!
