Valentine’s for Luvvies Challenge 2019 – 10th Feb

Hey Everyone! Hope y’all are doing wonderful!

Welcome to my fourth installment of The Valentine’s for Luvvies Challenge 2019 – which is being run by Rory at A Guy Called Bloke and Doodlepip’s Adventures.

PS – Yet again, I’m collating all three together for easy readability! *rebel alert*

Let’s get the fun started –

1 Display your top 5 Love songs with YouTube and then write a story of no longer than 200 words incorporating those same song titles into it! Your Story Is To Be Titled – Aunty Milly’s Bloomers!

Aunty Milly’s Bloomers

Aunty Milly in her polka-dot bloomer had a sad love story to share,
She talks about the time when she was pretty and young, without any care.

Her “Vision Of Love” was blurred and she did not believe in any “Love Story”
She was a wild flower, no “Hero” could save her from life’s misery.

She was “In Too Deep” in love with herself,
no “Tears In Heaven” could waiver her brazenness.

No “Hello”, no “Open Arms” could delight her bitter-cold heart,
“On The Wings Of Love” she never did find herself a sweetheart.

Lonely and desolate, she now lives a life seeking her “Endless Love”
With no one by her side, she is just some “Goodbye Girl!”

2 Tell us all in a post, tale or story or even a poem, why you just can’t stand Valentine’s Day and all the silly antics of lovers all around the world, acting like lunatics for a mere day – I mean it’s absurd isn’t it? Waste of chocolates, the flowers that end up wilting and dying and being dumped – where’s the love in that? This can be a funny read, a rant, a cursing or a cussing!

Even though I am a born “romantic” with high regards to “celebrating and rejoicing” love, I do understand that it does get a little difficult and challenging to live up to the high “unreal” expectations of the “valentin-o-meter!” The pressure of being the “best” lover, doing the right “costly” things, going extravagant (even when your pocket doesn’t allow it) – In my opinion is a “recipe to self-destruction!”
I say follow your heart, do what you as “partners” appreciate, value and want!

Here’s my “anti-love” rant from around the world –

Angry love: Margaret Atwood, “You fit into me”

This poem manages to capture all the intensity and anger of love gone wrong, in only four lines –

“You fit into me
like a hook into an eye

A fish-hook
An open eye”

PS – Someone take those arrows away from that baby.. You see, babies shouldn’t be playing with bows and arrows!

3 “When you marry your mistress, you create a vacancy.” Who said this?

Sir James Goldsmith from Annabel: an Unconventional Life.

4 Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton played the rowing couple in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. But how many more films did they co-star in after that?

Seven! Here’s the list of the total ELEVEN they did together –

The V.I.P.s (1963)
Cleopatra (1963)
The Sandpiper (1965)
Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966)
The Taming of the Shrew (1967)
Doctor Faustus (1967)
The Comedians (1967)
Boom! (1968)
Under Milk Wood (1972)
Hammersmith is Out (1972)
Divorce His – Divorce Hers (1973)

5 A line in the infamous “faked orgasm” scene in When Harry Met Sally is consistently voted one of the best of all time. Which is it?

“I’ll have what she’s having”

6 Do you think that animals feel love? Do you think a dog can feel love? A cat? What about a cow, a snake, or a slug? What makes you think so?

Yes, yes, yes! In Frances Hodgson Burnett’s words –

“How it is that animals understand things I do not know, but it is certain that they do understand. Perhaps there is a language which is not made of words and everything in the world understands it. Perhaps there is a soul hidden in everything and it can always speak, without even making a sound, to another soul.”
