Healthy Food Series – Celebrity Bizarre Eating Habits

Happy Tuesday y’all! It’s time for the weekly Healthy Food Series on iScriblr.

Well, guess what – Oscars happened! With “The Shape of Water” winning the Best Picture and Gary Oldman and Frances McDormand winning the Best Actor and Best Actress respectively, life has been star-studded and glamorous! (Ha! yes, being a crazy TV person does have its advantages and folly!) Keeping up with the Oscars frenzy and acknowledging the hard work and industriousness of our celebrities, it’s time for iScriblr to include them in the weekly Healthy Food Series. Yes, you heard it! This Tuesday, on Healthy Food Series – it is all about the stars and their BIZARRE EATING HABITS!

From Mariah Carey’s all-purple diet to Karl Lagerfeld’s separate house for dining (rich people problems!), here are some of the most bizarre eating (and necessarily not healthy!) habits of the stars –

1. MADONNA

It has been exactly 30 years since Madonna exploded into the public consciousness with her debut album Madonna and what great years they have been! A diva, a celebrated superstar and “Queen of Pop” – Madonna is undoubtedly an invincible Goddess. She holds the record for the most number-ones on all combined Billboard charts, including twelve number-one songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and eight number-one albums on the Billboard 200. With 46 songs topping the Dance Club Songs chart, Madonna became the artist with the most number-one songs on an active Billboard chart! (Woah, right!)

About her bizarre eating habit –

“Madge sometimes follows the Air Diet. Its rules are simple : You hold your food, but do not eat your food. Got that?”
The not-so-famous Air Diet – involves all the steps of preparing food, up until you bring it to your mouth, at which point you breathe in the delicious aroma without consuming a single morsel of it. This diet allows you to have boiled water with salt, and that’s it!

2. CHRISTINA AGUILERA

Growing up, Aguilera, known locally as “the little girl with the big voice”, aspired to be a singer, singing in local talent shows and competitions. She won her first talent show at the age of 8, in which she performed Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)“. From “The Mickey Mouse Club”to selling 17.9 million records in the United States, and 75 million records worldwide, Aguilera deserves to be known as one of the greatest artists to ever hit the pop industry!

About her bizarre eating habit –

“Ever heard of the 7-Day Color Diet? Neither did I. When the pop singer follows this regimen, she eats foods of only one color each day!”
Imagine, it’s Monday and you can only eat red foods! Strawberries and tomato sauce? Red peppers and cherries? The diet restricts you to natural foods only – so no red velvet cake allowed!

3. MARIAH CAREY

Following her marriage to Sony Music head Tommy Mottola, Carey became the label’s highest-selling act with the albums Music Box (1993), Merry Christmas (1994), and Daydream (1995). These albums spawned a string of successful singles including the international number-one “Without You”, holiday track “All I Want for Christmas Is You”, and “One Sweet Day”, which became the longest-running U.S. number-one single in history with a total of 16 weeks. After divorcing Mottola, Carey adopted a new image and incorporated more hip hop elements into her music with the release of Butterfly (1997). Billboard named her the most successful artist of the 1990s in the United States, while World Music Awards honored her as the world’s best-selling recording artist of the 1990s.

About her bizarre eating habit –

“The pop diva followed an all-purple diet after giving birth to twins in 2013. Something about going with foods that are rich in antioxidants.”
Plums, grapes and eggplants? All year along? Well, the goal of the Purple Diet isn’t so much on weight loss as it is on anti-aging and restoring a youthful glow to your skin and appearance. Healthy enough? Nah, not really!

4. ANDY WARHOL

Andy Warhol was an American artist, director and producer who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity culture, and advertising that flourished by the 1960s, and span a variety of media, including painting, silk-screening, photography, film, and sculpture. Some of his best known works include the silkscreen paintings Campbell’s Soup Cans (1962) and Marilyn Diptych (1962), the experimental film Chelsea Girls (1966), and the multimedia events known as the Exploding Plastic Inevitable (1966–67). The Andy Warhol Museum in his native city of Pittsburgh, which holds an extensive permanent collection of art and archives, is the largest museum in the United States dedicated to a single artist. Many of his creations are very collectible and highly valuable. The highest price ever paid for a Warhol painting is US$105 million for a 1963 canvas titled Silver Car Crash (Double Disaster).

About his bizarre eating habit –

“He stayed thin by following what he called the Andy Warhol New York City Diet. At restaurants, the seminal pop artist ordered foods he didn’t like. After dinner, he’d have the ample leftovers wrapped for takeout, which he’d donate to a homeless person.”
If the above passage teaches you anything, it might be “Don’t take diet advice from thin people. Duh!”

5. ELVIS PRESLEY

Well, who doesn’t know HIM! Regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as the “King of Rock and Roll” or simply “the King”. Presley is one of the most celebrated and influential musicians of the 20th century. Commercially successful in many genres, including pop, country, blues, and gospel, he is the best-selling solo artist in the history of recorded music. He won three competitive Grammy’s, received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at age 36, and has been inducted into multiple music halls of fame.

About his bizarre eating habit –

“The King’s favorite was peanut butter, banana and bacon, a variation on the Fool’s Gold sandwich – a sourdough loaf packed with peanut butter, bacon and blueberry jam – which was created in Denver. Legend has it that Elvis and a couple of his pals once flew 800 miles in his private jet on a late-night Fool’s Gold sandwich run. Now that’s livin’!” Rich people bizarre diet for sure!

Disgusting or totally genius? You decide!

Alright! Alright! I agree that there is nothing healthy about this post! “Well, all work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy!” and hence a fun post about the BIZARRE EATING HABITS of celebrities. I reckon, famous people do some pretty weird stuff! On a serious note, we don’t quite know what it is about fame that makes an individual suddenly decide to go off the rails and experiment with (or just completely make up) weird dietary restrictions. Is it the pressure of the spotlight? The need to stand out? Lassitude? Whatever the cause, it seems to be a craze no star can overhaul. Healthy or not, no-one knows!

MY ADVISE

Don’t just follow the STARS coz everyone else is and you have to, too! Know your body, appreciate your physical condition and formulate a goal plan to achieve your desired weight/millstone. Remember, there is no short-cut to good health and a fit body! Work out, eat healthy and listen to what you body has to say to you. There is no substitute to consistency, regularity, dedication and adherence!

Here’s to being wise and breaking the chain! Cheers!

Love,
